Nonprofit Gundalow Company Receives $1500 Grant from West Marine

‘BlueFuture®’ funding will be used to support Gundalow’s 2020 ‘floating classroom,’ which is expected to serve 2500+ maritime region students this spring and summer PORTSMOUTH, N.H., Feb. 27, 2020 — The Gundalow Company, a nonprofit organization whose mission is to protect the Piscataqua Region’s maritime heritage and environment through education and action, announced today that it has received a $1500 grant from The West Marine BlueFuture Fund at Community Foundation Santa Cruz County (BlueFuture®). Gundalow Guardians Bob Kozman (left) and Ed Caylor, both residents of Portsmouth, have been volunteering their time and elbow grease protecting the Piscataqua for four and six winters, respectively. They check bilges, docklines, and the cover on a regular basis, and especially after winter storms, when they shovel snow off the gangway and dock. “Bob and Ed are two of our most dedicated long-term volunteers,“ says Captain Matt Glenn.

Do you love spending time on the water?  Are you passionate about maritime heritage or the environment?  Do you want to help us share this message with campers and the public?  The Gundalow Company will offer two apprentice programs during the summer of 2020 for high school students to develop new skills either as a Gundalow Apprentice or a Gundalow Camp Apprentice.
