The Gundalow Company offers private charters aboard the gundalow PISCATAQUA. The typical charter sail is 2 hours long, departing from and returning to our dock in Prescott Park, Portsmouth and sailing to the mouth of the Piscataqua River past historic forts, lighthouses, and the Naval shipyard and former prison. We can make arrangements to sail from appropriate private docks, adjust the trip length, or please contact our Events Coordinator to discuss options.
The PISCATAQUA is the ideal vessel for corporate events, family reunions, special events, and much more. Gundalows have a flat bottom, which makes for a smooth sail that allows guests to enjoy their trip in comfort – expect a relaxing cruise on the river guided by a lovely breeze! The flat, wide, open deck provides views all around for every guest. The gundalow can accommodate up to 46 guests* of all ages and is accessible with no steps to get on board.
Guests are welcome to bring their own food or beverages. We are happy to provide a list of caterers familiar with the unique setting of the gundalow. Adults 21+ may enjoy beer, wine, hard cider or seltzer on board; beverages must be under 15% alcohol.
If you’d like to enhance your private charter experience with live music on board we can suggest some local musicians who have performed on board in the past. Whether maritime folk, bluegrass or jazz we can find a group to fit your interests.

Getting married? We’ve hosted many wedding celebrations (before, during, or after celebrations!) aboard the PISCATAQUA, and we were featured in Seacoast Weddings magazine as an ideal vessel for nautical nuptials. Burials At Sea
Please note that we are unable to provide trips for Burials at Sea including spreading ashes due to EPA requirements for being farther off the coast, as we only sail along the river and not into the ocean.
