Private Charter Information The Gundalow Company is pleased to offer private charters aboard the gundalow Piscataqua, which departs from our dock at Prescott Park in Porstmouth, New Hampshire. The Piscataqua seats 42 passengers and is operated by a USCG licensed captain and three crew members with over 40 years of combined sailing experience. The boat is 63’LOA, has a draft of 2.5 feet, and is a traditional reproduction of the gundalow sailboats that were utilized from the seventeenth through the twentieth century to transport goods between the shallow waters of inland towns and the deep water port of Portsmouth. The new gundalow was moved on Friday December 9, 2011 from the Puddle Dock shipyard at Strawbery Banke, to Peirce Island, Portsmouth, New Hampshire where it will be launched on Saturday December 10 at 11am.

It was a night for celebrating, hammering in the last plank of the new gundalow, and a little bit of whiskey too! The Portsmouth Patch captured part of the celebrations on video here. Seaport Fish provided supreme chowder, fishcakes and oysters. Smuttynose Brewery had over six flavors of locally-made beer. Marshall Tent donated a nice pavilion to keep us dry, and Infinite Imaging helped create great signage. Music was provided by Jeff Murdock and Ramona Connelly.
