About this Special Presentation:
In his presentation Rinker Buck aims to revolutionize audience perspective about the building of America.
We tend to be very land-based in our concept of American history with stories of battles over land and territories.
We are not a land based culture – we are river based.
In the 1800s 400,000 people made their way West along the Oregon Trail and other passes or trails.
Between the Revolutionary War & Civil War three million people traveled West on the Ohio & Mississippi waterways
aboard flatboats including Gundalows; these were the covered wagons.
