Virtual Gundalow Gathering: Rigs to Reefs – April 9th 2020

Join the Gundalow Company with Emily Hazelwood and Amber Sparks from Blue Latitudes as we host a live virtual presentation: Rigs-to-Reefs provides an alternative to complete rig removal in which an oil company chooses to modify a platform so that it can continue to support marine life as an artificial reef. Through this decommissioning process, the oil well is capped and the upper 85 feet of the platform is either towed, toppled in place, or removed. Meet a ‘couple’ of members: Joey and Carol Donnelly

  GUNDALOW ROLES York Harbor, Maine, residents Joey and Carol Donnelly wear, and have worn, many different hats for The Gundalow Company. For example, Joey is a founding Trustee and served as The Gundalow Company’s Chairman from 2002-2009. Currently he serves on the Development Committee and as a ‘sometime’ crew member aboard the Piscataqua gundalow.

Meet our Volunteers: Paula and Michael

  GUNDALOW ROLES Paula is a deckhand and assists with office tasks. She also volunteers at the Round Island Regatta. Michael too is a deckhand. An experienced photographer, he captures activities aboard Piscataqua during school and public sails. Many of his photos can be seen at the Gundalow website and in publicity brochures. He also works at the Round Island Regatta. One of his favorite tasks during summer is River Rats day camp, showing campers how to row and be safe in Wherries. Nonprofit Gundalow Company Elects John Lamson as Chairman of the Board

He replaces Catharine Newick, who has served as chairwoman since 2017 and will remain a director of Gundalow Company. Lamson is a retired U.S. diplomat.
