School programs on the gundalow PISCATAQUA can take up to 27 students (with additional room for chaperones). Our Waterfront programs are scheduled 1 class at a time for up to 30 students.
Our office is located at 60 Marcy Street in Portsmouth and the PISCATAQUA and Sheafe Warehouse are directly across the street in Prescott Park.
Please do not plan to eat lunch onboard the PISCATAQUA as this will take up instructional time. Most groups plan to eat lunch in Prescott Park. We have limited indoor space that may be available for eating when the weather does not cooperate.
Most of our programs start and end in Prescott Park in Portsmouth, NH. Throughout the sailing season we also sail from Adams Point in Durham and several other locations. Please plan to arrive 15 minutes before your scheduled time and allow time for traffic. Our waterfront programs are based in Sheafe Warehouse and our Welcome Center in Prescott Park, Portsmouth, NH. Buses can drop students right at Prescott Park.
Our programs generally run rain or shine, please dress appropriately for the weather. If the weather looks dangerous or excessively unpleasant we will work with you to reschedule or refund you group. During high winds we sometimes run our programs partially at the dock or many not raise the sail.
Safety is always our top concern. The Gundalow is a Coast Guard inspected vessel and our crew are trained in CPR and First Aid. Please let us know if you have any safety questions.
In order to hold a spot in our schedule, we request that groups pay when they book their trip. If this is not possible, please let us know during booking and set up payment with us.
Students need a signed waiver to sail with us or to participate in a program. Please bring your waivers on the day of your program and give them to the crew member
Once you’ve booked your trip, please look over our programs logistics page and visit our resources page for suggestions on activities and lessons.
